Music Teacher 4th & 5th--high school film
I grew up in Tuttle and graduated in 1997. I went to college in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University for four years, doing my student teaching in Kingfisher. I started out as an Agricultural Communications student, and realized that students and teaching is what I wanted for my future late during my sophomore year. I finished at Oklahoma State University in May, 2001 with my BA in Elementary Education. Not being able to find a teaching position right away, I worked for my unlce in Tulsa in sales and marketing. After 9/11, I decided I wanted to come home after being in Tulsa for 8 1/2 months. I came back home and worked for a semester in the Mid-Del school district as a second grade teacher. That summer I got the job as the HS head Cheer Coach and the 2nd – 8th grade GT teacher. The following 11 years, I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade as a homeroom teacher. I have always had a love and passion for music, and I had the opportunity to take over the 2nd and 3rd grade music teacher for a couple of years. I was asked by the Tuttle Schools Fine Arts director to take on the roll of 6th grade, Junior High, and High School vocal teacher. After two years, I decided to go back to the younger ages and teach 4th and 5th grade music as well as one high school class of personal finance and now film. I feel like I have taught everything here in Tuttle, which I feel has made me a better teacher for it!
I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from OSU
I started teaching back in January, 2002, first in the Mid-Del school district, then at Tuttle that fall. I have taught in the Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High School all in the Tuttle Public School system. I feel like I’ve done it all! This year I am teaching music to all of the 4th and 5th grade students. I am also teaching a Personal Finance Literacy class at the high school.
Chuck and I have six children ranging in ages from 12-22. Our two oldest, Harleigh and Murphy, both graduated from Tuttle, Crickette is a Freshman, while Chandler, Jake, and Chase are all at the Middle School. We have a precious labradoodle, Chevy, who is a year old.
I grew up in Tuttle and have always lived here, except for my college years in Stillwater and one year following in Tulsa. I am a huge Oklahoma State fan!! I enjoy singing and playing the piano. I also enjoy watching movies and l am a sub bus driver. I am a sport’s fanatic and love going to support any Tuttle or Oklahoma sport or game. Sonic Diet Cokes are a daily habit for me, unfortunately, but they keep me going!!
